Sleeping Beauty or “ Little Briar Rose” as she was called, is a classic fairytale  signifying the transition of innocence to maturity in that on pricking her finger on a flax spindle the princess has 100 years (thanks to the curse by the evil fairy) to transcend the negativity and triumph in love from the prince who awakens her in her cocoon of rose thorns surrounding her castle where she has been slumbering. It symbolizes the awakening of  the feminine, represented as love, which guides the masculine toward transcendence (after proving himself to win her). My Sleeping Beauty is a lioness with a long golden mane with a paw over one eye wearing a red gown inset with jewels surrounded by aloe vera stalks as the prickly brambles that ensnared her in time. In the foreground is a fairytale book open to the page of Sleeping Beauty with an image of her in the arms of her prince, once again fast asleep yet awakened by eternal love.
