In this collage I have brought Prince Charming up to date as a Collie canine guitar rock god on a pewter pedestal wearing a bejeweled Napoleon bicorne worn sideways, overcoat, and thigh-high boots. I combine three fairy tales: Cinderella represented by the Prince and glass slipper, Jiminy Cricket  from Pinocchio, and Tinker Bell from Peter Pan. Prince Charming is an archetype for the ideal romantic partner—a man who is handsome, kind, gallant and protective, acting as a hero who rescues a person in distress. Jiminy Cricket is the Disney version of the talking cricket in Pinocchio written in 1883 by Carlos Collidi for children. He is the voice of reason on the puppets shoulder and a metaphor that represents our inner conscience, the moral compass guiding us toward right behavior. Here he is guiding Prince Charming to do the right thing and rescue Cinderella by finding her and sliding the glass slipper on her foot to prove she is the princess she is. Tinker Bell from J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan is the tiny flying fairy representing magic, loyalty and friendship embodying devotion despite her fiery personality and symbolizes creativity and resourcefulness (as a “tinker” of broken things). In my collage she is giving both Prince Charming and Cinderella  the power of belief they will find each other. All three are floating in pearls, red roses, and small glittering circles representing the joy of securing Cinderella her “Happy Ever After”.
