A full moon looms in this image inspired by my visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra India. No words can describe the beauty of the white marble of the mausoleum as it blushes in different colors as the sun moves across the sky as the earth rotates on its axis. In this collage the building is more of a pavilion with jewels, roses, rose petals and leaves scattered around it. In Indian Ayurvedic healing and Vedic rituals, rose water, oils and petals symbolize cooling tranquility, surrendering ego and spiritual awakening. Sufi traditions in India also view the unfolding rose as a metaphor for the soul’s journey toward the divine. The rose is also closely tied to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and beauty who is mythologically said to have been born from rose petals. In India, roses (gulaab) symbolize divine love, spiritual devotion, purity of the soul and romantic affection. We need to let life unfold like a fragrant rose, relishing in the simple things that bring beauty to our lives.
