Description

Here we have a Cambodian dancer with a cat’s head and tail and rooster wearing a kimono within a glowing full moon. In the circle on the upper left is an image of Brahma, the Hindu god known as “The Creator”. He was responsible for making the universe and all living things and is linked to supreme knowledge and the sacred texts called Vedas. I lived in Japan where I found the kimono to be an art form and visited Cambodia where I enjoyed traditional Cambodian dancers at Angkor Wat, the ancient capital complex near Siem Reap with soaring towers and enigmatic carved stone faces. In this collage I combined the rooster and cat creations of Brahma in the costumes of the two countries with my Chinese animal (fire rooster) suspended in the infinity that is space.
