In this collage I used carefully folded over Medinilla mangnifica leaves in a spiral from the large bush also known as “rose grape” for the bunches of tiny dark pink berries and tiers of pink blossoms that dangle from branches resembling tiny chandeliers. The undersides are pale pink and I added purple and rusty brown wild orchids collected from the roadside to contrast the pale leaves with some small light blue fuzzy wildflowers, colorful streaky croton leaves and a silvery-white crumpled cecropia leaf. To the center is the pale yellow florescence of the cecropia tree that fall to the ground when the pods burst open. I wanted to express the magic of the flora growing here in Hawaii.
